BRDC Rising Star
The BRDC’s Rising Star programme is designed to look after the interests of the best young racing talent in the UK today.
Lewis Hamilton and Alex Lloyd are just two success stories from the Rising Star scheme – and with eight national champions from its ranks last season alone, BRDC Rising Stars has a proven track record of selecting only the best of individuals.
British Formula 3 International Series
British F3 International is the leading single seater championship in the UK, and the world’s leading Formula 3 category. Drivers come from all over the world to race in the Series, and compete against the finest young racing drivers of our generation.
Around the world, no other race series has produced as many Grand Prix winners and World Champions as British Formula 3. The British F3 Roll of Honour includes winners of Formula 1, the US ChampCar and IndyCar, Indy 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours titles.
The Car
A four-cylinder engine powers the 2011 Formula 3 car. With 210 bhp available at 6000 rpm, with the right track conditions, it can reach speeds in excess of 160 mph.
This power provides acceleration from 0-60 mph in just 3.0 seconds. Each car weighs just over half a metric ton including the driver and ballast, and the body work is mostly constructed using carbon fibre sandwich.
The Team
The Hitech Racing team are regarded as one of the leading teams in British F3, and have been front-runners in the championship since debuting in 2003.
