BRDC Superstar
The BRDC’s Superstar programme was formed in 2008, designed to look after the interests of the best young racing talent in the UK today.
Riki was invited to join this elite group of drivers in it’s first year, alongside thirteen others from Formula Ford, GP2, Le Mans and Touring Cars. They benefit from mental and physical training, access to the Silverstone-based club facilities, sponsorship advice, workshops and perhaps most crucially, the endorsement of one of the most prestigious racing clubs in the world.
British Formula 3 International Series
British F3 International is the leading single seater championship in the UK, and the world’s leading Formula 3 category. Drivers come from all over the world to race in the Series, and compete against the finest young racing drivers of our generation.
Around the world, no other race series has produced as many Grand Prix winners and World Champions as British Formula 3. The British F3 Roll of Honour includes winners of Formula 1, the US ChampCar and IndyCar, Indy 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours titles.
The Car
A Mercedes-Benz four-cylinder engine powers the 2009 Formula 3 car. With 210 bhp available at 6000 rpm, with the right track conditions, it can reach speeds in excess of 160 mph.
This power provides acceleration from 0-60 mph in just 3.0 seconds. Each car weighs just over half a metric ton including the driver and ballast, and the body work is mostly constructed using carbon fibre sandwich.
The Team
The Fortec Motorsport team started in Grantham, Lincolnshire but moved to Daventry, it’s current location, in 1999.
The team competes in a number of high-profile motorsport championships including Formula 3, Formula Renault, Formula BMW and more recently Formula Renault 3.5 Series.
